Homemade Christmas Ornaments
"Bling for Your Tree" Submitted by Cristy Carnes
We always made these handmade ornaments when I was a
kid because it was cheap but it was also so much fun. First you need some
sturdy cardboard, scissors, aluminum foil, a marker, and something to trace if
you are not artistically inclined. I should learn to follow my own advice as I
freehanded my examples so they are less than perfect but I usually trace
Christmas themed cookie cutters. After drawing your shapes, cut them out with
scissors and wrap them with foil, shiny side out of course so they really
shine when you turn out the lights and plug in the tree. You could also
easily adorn them with accessories too like small beads, sequins, etc., or
write family members names on them to make a "family tree." Then you
can simply nestle them in the branches or use a heavy duty hole punch for the
metal hanger to fit through. So there you have it, easy and fun ornaments that
you probably would even have to go to the store to find the materials for,
just a five minute search around the house.
