We'd like to thank EVERYONE who participated in our annual homemade Christmas ornament contest, you guys are so talented!!! Even though it takes many months to work on this project each year it has been such a joy to work with you and see your beautiful handmade ornaments. Many of them are very dear to you and your family and we really do appreciate you sharing them with us!
This year we would like to try to get an early start on our 2009 contest so we have opened up our submission channel early! You can begin submitting your homemade ornaments for our 3rd Annual Contest at any time and the deadline this year will be DECEMBER 31st!
Now, I am delighted to announce the WINNERS of our 2008 Homemade Christmas Ornament Contest... Our First Place, $100.00 Winner is...
"String Ornament with Nativity Scene" Submitted by Candace Tatton of UT To me Christmas should be about Christ. I want my tree to remind me of that and this ornament does. When I was a child I had an Easter basket made out of string. This ornament is a smaller version of that basket with the nativity scene added. Our Second Place, $50.00 Winner is...
"Christmas Egg Ornaments" Submitted by Sara Campbell, American living in Turkey
Time consuming but a real keepsake when it is done! A very dear friend taught me how to make these and we made them
together in Singapore. Not only are they beautiful keepsakes and prettier than
anything you could buy in a store, they always remind me of her. She is
faithfully serving the Lord in Asia after surviving a bout with Malaria one
Christmas. They are wonderful keepsakes because you can make them personal for
anyone... a pair of ballet shoes for a daughter, a toy drum and soldier for a
son, etc. I have about 10 of them and cherish them all.

And Our Third Place, $25.00 Winner is... "Bee an Angel" Submitted by Tracey
Gaudette of MI I call this ornament "Bee an Angel"
because it is made from pure beeswax. My husband, Roger, and I are
beekeepers. I made this ornament the same way German bakers used to in the
16th century. I melted our beeswax (in a double boiler on the kitchen
stove) and poured it into a ceramic cookie mold (cookie molds are available from
many sources, kitchen stores, online, etc.) which I had sprayed with
"candle release" (available at any craft store), like you would spray
a pan with non-stick spray for baking, inserting a hanging loop of ribbon while
the wax is still liquid. View Directions for this Ornament Congratulations Gaudette!!!
